Which are the MS symptoms?
Multiple sclerosis is a disease with many variations and symptoms depending on which side of the central nervous system is affected. There is a pattern of MS and each person who suffers from MS has a different set of symptoms that vary in time and can change the intensity and duration even if the same person.
Most affected are:
- View
- Coordination
- Force - Senses
- Speech and swallowing
- Bladder Control
- Sexuality
- Cognitive functions
There is no typical MS. Most people affected will submit at least one symptom, and though there are common symptoms to many people, none of them will not have any symptoms.
Disturbances of vision:
- Blurred vision
- Double vision (diplopia)
- Optic neuritis
- involuntary rapid eye movement - (rarely) total loss of vision
Problems with balance and coordination of movements:
- loss of balance
- tremors
- unstable walking (ataxia)
- dizziness (vertigo)
- awkwardness of a member
- lack of coordination
Flaccid: This particularly affects the feet and walking.
Spasticity:
- disturbance of muscle tone can cause spasticity or muscle strengthening which can affect mobility and walking -
- spasms
Disorders of the senses:
- tingling, numbness (paresthesia) or sensations of burning in some parts of the body -
- other sensations undefined
Pain can be associated with MS as facial pain (neuralgia trigeminala) and muscle aches.
Problems with speech:
- slow speech
- inadequate articulation of the words
- changes in rhythm of speech
- difficulty in swallowing
Fatigue: A special type of generalized fatigue that occurs unexpectedly and is not directly proportional to the effort. Fatigue is one of the most common (and intrusive) symptoms of MS.
Problems with bladder and bowel problems:
- bladder problems include the need to eliminate urine frequently and / or urgently, incomplete elimination or at inappropriate times
- intestinal problems include constipation and, rarely, loss of control.
Sexuality and intimacy:
- impotence
- low arousal
- loss of sensation
Sensitivity to heat: This symptom causes a temporary worsening of other symptoms.
Cognitive dysfunction:
- Learning and memory
- Attention and concentration
- Finding words
